English Proverbs

Where there's a will there's a way(dimana ada kemahuan,disitu ada jalan)

When a person really wants to do something, he will find a way of doing it


First come, first served(siapa cepat dia dapat)

The first in line will be attended to first


Call a spade a spade

If you say that, you mean that they speak direct to the point.An informal expression as well.


Every cloud has a silver lining(setiap kejadian pasti ada hikmahnya)

If you say that every cloud has a silver lining, you mean that every sad or unpleasant situation has a positive side to it.In term of malay expreso,Setiap kejadian ada hikmahnya.Note tat silver lining=gain.

This proverb came out in MARA SPM TRIAL 2008

Some of the candidates,include me confuse about that.At last,we had to choose other question.


Like father, like son, like mother, like daughter(tengok sapa ayahnya)

to describe a child's behavior when he or she acts either like father or mother


Practice makes perfect

It is believed that if one practices a certain skill often, he will excel in it


There's no smoke without fire(masakan pokok bergoyang kalau tiada anginya)

Prevention is better than cure(cegah baik dari merawat)

When the cat is away the mice will play(ambil kesempatan diatas kebebasan)

When law enforcers are not present, certain public members will take the opportunity to disobey the law


Don't judge a book by its cover(don’t judge someone by their physical charac)

Do not be deceived by appearances.


An apple a day keeps the doctor away, an essay a day keeps the lower grades away dan sewaktu dgnya

It means that apples are so nutritious they keep you in the peak of health,makin kita buat benda sepatutnya(positive),makin jauh benda yg tidak dikhendaki
